Achill Island is on the West Coast of Ireland and is approx 40 miles west of Castlebar or Westport towns.
Driving from Dublin
Take the N4 to Longford, then the N5 through to Strokestown, Charlestown, and on to Castlebar. Take the road to Newport, go through Mulranny village and onto the R319 to Achill Island (there is a bridge onto the island at Achill Sound).
Driving from Galway, take the N84 to Headford, on to Ballinrobe and to Castlebar. Take the Newport road, go through Mulranny village and the R319 takes
you to Achill.
Driving from Northern Ireland, head for Sligo, then take the N17 to Tubbercurry. At Charlestown, take the N5 to
Castlebar. Take the Newport road, on to Mulranny and the R319 to Achill.
Driving Directions from Achill Sound [As you enter Achill Island]. Drive through Achill Sound and on westwards for about 5km, watch for "Ted Lavelle's" pub and the ESSO petrol station on your right. Drive on approx. 4 Km more and watch out for "Grove B&B", on your left. Turn right at this junction and drive for approx 5 KM until your come to the Valley cross-roads. Turn left here and you are now heading for "Golden Strand", Dugort.
Approx 2 KM more on the Dugort road and you will see Lavelle's Caravan and Camp Park on your right.
